Our programs support every stage of the swimming journey—from first lessons and community programs to ocean safety and building confidence in the water. Each program is designed to help people feel safer, stronger, and more confident in and around water.
Our community lessons make swimming and water safety accessible to everyone. Through scholarships and local partnerships, we provide free or low-cost lessons to children and families who may otherwise never have the chance to learn. These programs are made possible by our supporters, donations, and every private lesson booked with Buffalo Pond.
Our private lessons are tailored to every swimmer. Whether you're overcoming a fear of water, learning to swim for the first time, improving your technique, or preparing for open water, we create lessons that match your pace and goals, for babies, toddlers, children, and adults of all levels, taught one-on-one or in small private groups.
Swimming in the ocean requires different skills than swimming in a pool. Our Ocean Safety sessions help participants understand waves, currents, and rip currents, along with entering and exiting safely, reading beach conditions, and building confidence in open water. Learning to respect the ocean is just as important as learning to swim.
Learning to swim is about more than technique, it's about building confidence, trust, and feeling comfortable in the water. Everyone learns at their own pace, and we create a supportive environment where every small step forward is celebrated. Our lessons help swimmers overcome their fears, trust their abilities, and enjoy the journey, because confident swimmers become safer swimmers.
We create and share educational resources that make water safety engaging, accessible, and easy to understand for children, families, schools, and communities. Our growing collection includes free water safety story books, swimming and safety materials, and school resources, helping people continue learning long after they leave the pool, building lifelong safety habits.
We work with schools, communities, businesses, and organisations to bring water safety education to more people. By partnering locally, we make life-saving knowledge more accessible and create a lasting impact beyond our regular lessons, through school visits, community talks and workshops, first aid awareness, instructor training, and partnerships with local organisations and businesses.

Buffalo Pond offers a range of programs and services:
Buffalo Pond started three years ago with a shared passion for water, community, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to feel safe and confident around water.
Founded by Andie, Buffalo Pond has grown from a small idea into a growing community of teachers, partners, interns, and supporters who all contribute to bringing our mission to life.
Andie leads Buffalo Pond’s vision and development, combining her background in psychology and international development with a passion for creating meaningful community impact and making water safety more accessible across Lombok.
Ines joined the team as Partnership & Community Manager and swim instructor, bringing her background in psychology and experience working with children into her teaching approach. Her understanding of confidence-building and individual learning needs helps create a supportive environment where swimmers can overcome fears, build trust, and enjoy their journey in the water.
Alongside our core team, Buffalo Pond is supported by a growing group of interns, teachers, collaborators, and what we call The Herd, the incredible people who contribute their skills, creativity, and support in many different ways.
Together, we create a welcoming community where people can learn, connect, and build a safer relationship with the water.
